DISASTER! DOMAIN NAMES LOSE 95% OF VALUE OVERNIGHT!
April 1st, 2008 Posted in General Domain News
It’s true! We’ve all been destroyed. Domainers have been victims of a cruel hoax for the last ten years, and we’ve paid hundreds of thousands, even millions and billions of dollars to buy domains we thought would be valuable investments. BUT IT’S BEEN A FRAUD ON US! The domain industry is collapsing in on itself. Domain values have dropped to less than 90% of their estimated value.
Insiders have told me that Google and Yahoo have started to cut back on ad syndication payouts, and thousands of domainers are losing millions of dollars a day parking their domains at parking services that are only paying 10% of previous payouts. Domain investors have nowhere to turn to now. The easy money days are OVER! All the cash spent buying domains and renewing them have turned out to be a waste of money, because the domain crash has arrived.
New information from Google and Yahoo, sent to me with utmost secrecy, has laid out the facts very clear for all domain investors and “cybersquatters” (as the business community commonly views us). The ad aggregators are simultaneously cutting the payouts for “parked pages”, by the end of April. As an example, Google and Yahoo executives state that their estimates are: Domainers earning $100 a month on a domain’s PPC revenue will now drop to about $10 a month, a huge loss in profits for domainers. This revenue drop applies to all domains across the board, relevant to your domains’ previous earning power. If you earned $5 a month from a domain, it’s now going to drop to about 50 cents a month.
I’ve been contacted by most of the top parking service executives today, who gave me permission to release this information to all of you. They are beside themselves, because previously appraised domain portfolios of 400,000 plus domains, bought for hundreds of millions of dollars are now worth almost nothing. One parking service executive told me his previous experience selling hotdogs on the streets of New York City will save him, because he kept his little hotdog stand. This doesn’t help domainers though. We can’t all sell hotdogs, can we? What can we do and what will we do in the face of the current GW BUSH recession? Nobody has any money to buy our domains, and major businesses are cutting back on marketing, especially in the areas of “new media advertising”, which includes “investing in generic domains”. Even though most businesses weren’t investing in generic domains anyways because they believe the lies their ad agencies tell them, after today’s news get’s out, now they never will.
The future is so dire, that all of the domain industry companies that stand to lose the most are DENYING this is happening. However, all of us can see our PPC revenues dropping every day. We’re getting paid less and less. Reports are coming out that PPC fraud is so bad that Google and Yahoo both are beginning to eliminate their ad link programs. Google is reported (anonymous sources) to be focusing on their other internet services, including registrar, webhosting, and online application services to increase their revenues. They no longer consider domain name owners (Domainers) to be important to their revenue. IT IS A DISASTER!!!
Domains once appraised at even $1000 are now being sold at $100 or less. Domainers are in a panic trying to sell off their domains as quickly as possible before the public realizes what is happening. Those of you ready to purchase domains in upcoming auctions will quickly find out that nobody wants domains anymore, so you can pick up domains for the reserve prices. You won’t have any competition in the bidding arena. Domainers don’t want to trade incestuously anymore hoping for a good deal, because there are no more “good deals”. Domains are worthless! Businesses that were smart enough to even search out and buy domains that described their products/services are now looking to advertise on the radio again. Domains aren’t solid investments like we thought they would be.
I had a conference call tonight with Kevin Ham, Frank Schilling, Sahar Sarid, Pete Lamson, Larry Fitzgibbon, Bob Parsons, Sig Solares, Ammar Kubba, Lawrence Ng, Rich Schwartz, and several other major players. It was hard to hear what was being said because of the overpowering sound of sobs and wails from this group. Most of them were drunk, so it was understandable that I couldn’t identify who cried the most, but it was HEARTWRENCHING.
Fellow domainers Rick Schwartz and Frank Schilling have decided to stop “blogging” in anticipation of this horrible news. A lot of domainers follow every word of these domainer giants, and the fact they have abandoned our cause just proves that the money they’ve made is secured in more solid investments, and they can live in luxury, while all us suckers look at all our domains and just wish we could have sold our domains for enough money for us to retire in comfort for the rest of our lives.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like all of us domainers are going to get rich now. The domain industry is dead. There’s only one solution for all of us that I found, and it’s located at this website. Peace, and RIP, domainers. Oh, be sure to click that link in the last sentence to find out the answer.
REMEMBER AND NEVER FORGET THIS DATE: APRIL 1st, 2008 - APRIL FOOL’S DAY. This date makes everything in this blog article a big lie. But it sure sounds scary, doesn’t it? THINK HARD ABOUT HOW YOU FELT READING IT. APRIL FOOLS!

Very well done

Thanks, Alan. We should thank the Big Man for our blessings. Maybe I’ll come up next with a “Domainer’s Prayer”. (Be looking to see this phrase registered as a domain soon, but not by me).

Not a joke Stephen

Man, you be telling it like it is, bro. Did you have to take a quick trip to the bathroom in the middle of reading that blog?
Even though this was an April Fool’s Joke, it has some merit. All domainers need to start thinking about approaching the business sector and educating them on the value of domain names in their online marketing. Who in our industry will deny this is the NUMBER ONE MOST IMPORTANT GOAL FOR DOMAINERS AND THE DOMAIN INDUSTRY?
We can’t all keep buying domains from each other. That time is rapidly coming to an end. Watch the next couple of live domain auctions, and find out who the “bidders” are. And watch perfectly good domains not selling, even for the low reserves I’m seeing. CREATE A NEW MARKET PEOPLE. I’ll join any movement of halfway intelligent domainers attempting to reach the business community to educate them on domain name values. Anyone?

Here I am half in the bag drinking wine. Notice I’m shaking in my boots next I may break out in hives and totally submit to your Tom-Foolery. There is one fundamental crack in your vessel of demise. We all still own and control letters of the alphabet, so take that and smoke it in your pipe.

HAHAHAHA! Sorry Jeff. LOL. Such a wake-up call to all of us, though. Work harder!

” Business Lease Holders lose 100% of their Businesses Overnight because of Apathy ”
Lets all work hard to educate people of this very real threat so we can organize and galvanize a China wall that will last our lifetimes.
