ROCKERS! Bido.com Domain Review – Generic Domain “Rocks”!

July 10th, 2008 Posted in General Domain News

Stephen Douglas (left) Duff McKagan GNR (right)I was checking the Bido.com upcoming “domain of the day” and found one for today, July 10, that I personally know has some “undiscovered” promise. For those of you who have never played in a rock band, you might not relate, unless you consider the impact that this domain’s generic descriptive products/services (prodservs) has had on the music you listen to.

BASSPEDAL.COM

What the heck is that? Well, if you watch the bands you like, or listen to them, which I know you do, you’ll “hear” the bass pedal come into play on two different levels:

1) The “bass pedal” is what the drummer’s foot presses down on that hits the bass drum

2) The “bass pedal” is also what give a bass guitar its variety of effects when the bass guitar player steps on the effects device “pedal”.

Since some people know I’ve had connections with some halfway decent rock bands, (that’s me above at left, with Duff McKagan, bass player for Guns N Roses at the time, he’s now with Velvet Revolver) my experience with a prodservs domain like Basspedal.com will help me give BassPedal.com the proper attention it needs. To lay it out for you, this domain is worth a minimum of $1,500, and is a category-killer.

It can be built out easily to be a drummer AND a bass players’ website for their specific products, and setting up a CPA on a site like this, with a forum for musicians, can easily start to make your investment back quickly on purchasing this domain, and then more. I immediately found an exact keyword adlink on Google using the phrase “Bass Pedal” (forget about the 280,000 page results on the exact phrase “bass pedal”). What’s even better is the site with the exact relevant adlink has an AFFILIATE PROGRAM! Sweet. That’s a domainer’s inside secret as being a first sign that there’s a prodserv with a commission for selling the prodserv. Here’s the link:

Yep, sign up for their affiliate program, throw on some musical content and RSS feeds on bass players and drummers, and you’ve got a working website with a category-killing prodserv domain. If you bid a maximum of $1500 on this domain, and win it, you just got yourself a viable prodserv domain, with products to sell on any buildout on the domain you plan. Heck, if you want to flip it, just do some deep searches for the product manufacturers and give them a call. $5,000 is petty cash for most music instrument companies. Could be a quick flip but at the minimum, it could be a working cash cow for you for years to come.
