SEE INTO THE FUTURE OF NEW KEYWORD DOMAINS – THERE’S BIG MONEY WAITING
June 19th, 2010 Posted in Aftermarket, Business Sector, Domain Development, General Domain News, Rick LatonaSUCCESSCLICK™ SET TO REVEAL SECRETS FOR FUTURE DOMAIN SUCCESS
Many domainers are aware that I am a “future trend” domain investor. When I think of getting “treasures”, I think of selling a domain I bought for OOTB prices or even $2000 or less, that I can flip in the future for 1000% profit or more.
It’s apparent that some of the auction houses, including RICK LATONA, also have their eyes directed forward: (Credit to Ron Jackson’s Interview):
LATONA: “The breakout will most likely come in 2011 but for our part, we will be positioning ourselves in 2010 for the inevitable,” Latona said. “New markets mean new players. Expect to hear of people that you had never heard of before. Somewhere out there, there is someone sitting on a killer portfolio of future value domains waiting to pounce. I will be waiting with open arms.“
I’m sure Rick’s arms are outstretched waiting to embrace me soon, and everyone will be surprised, except me. I’ve always believed that pigs can fly – you just have to believe it and see them being loaded onto cargo planes.
The point is, you can profit with the future, too. If you’re investing in domain names and don’t have $50,000 to spend on a domain (could be your wife likes to put your money in CD’s and mutual funds…arggh), you can still make good money spending several hours researching some future trends with phrases you can nab for $7.50 OOTB. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re buying a domain for $50k at retail price and you have $200k behind you to build that domain out to own your competition (this refers to domainers only, not established businesses), then balls to the wall on that.
However, there’s nothing like flipping a domain bought at OOTB pricing for 1000 times that cost. It’s not that hard.
This is my beta lead-in for my email subscription service I’ve just installed at my blog. There’s a touch more I have to wrap up before launch, but it should be soon. I’ve spent very little time on my own projects since 2003 because I liked helping my clients with their domain/marketing/design issues. I’ve enjoyed working with clients in all areas of business with their domains, because I have learned almost every aspect of business promotion and monetization using domain names. That’s like a continuing Masters Degree in “Domaining” for me, which I can pass on to you or your company.

Looking forward to your news letter…
By George on Jun 20, 2010
Completely agree. The only way to get in the game these days (without serious bankroll) is to go OOTB. I have been doing that for some time now and have begun to see some of my names ripen and receive offers. But it’s still early for many of them so knowing when to hold is key.
There was a brief point in time mid to late last year where certain names where looking like a good bet and I pounced on them… scoring some gems for between $300-$500. But that party is over and I have begun looking to the “next” thing.
I think we’re on the same track here Stephen, but only time (and the market) will tell.

Hi George,
The best way to be confident in your domain choices for future trends is to use “Google Alerts” for news articles that match your domain phrases exactly. The more news articles sent to your email address from Google based on the “Alert” phrases, the more you can say to yourself “whoa… ho ho ho – I think I got something here!” (be sure you set your alerts for more than one word in “quotes”. Example: “Funky Habadashery” for the domain name “funkyhaberdashery.com”. (yes, the domain is available OOTB).
Thx for writing!

Hi, Since I was the first to sign up with your newsletter while it was beta, should I sign up again?
XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:
Hi Louise,
I don’t think you have to sign up again. You’re in the database. I just haven’t sent out the first email yet. I’m prepping it to be the grandest ever “1st Email Newsletter Ever For Domainers”.

Hi
Man…
Stephen you were way ahead of the “curve” with 3dadvertising .com (1997)
Very Nice Domain…congrats!

3d tvs are out
At least 3 major studios have said they will make nothing but 3d movies.
By 2013 they say you will be able to watch 3d “without” 3d glasses.
At least 2 major telvision media giants are starting all 3d television platform’s or channels.
___
I was a “little behind” but manage to register a few, in the hopes 3d video(s) become a big deal in the future…
We live not far from each other….as I live in Long Beach.
Been down to see the AVP tournaments at Hermosa & Manhattan Beach’s more than once.
The Manhattan Open is in Aug, this year..and for some reason they cut out Long Beach and play for the first time at “Zuma beach” and Hermosa (twice)
Anyway I digress….lol
Look forward to your newsletter…etc…
I am sure glad you got away from… “you know who” a couple years ago…
The guy seem smart, but…he sure came up with some “under the table” actions…it seems like…more than once.
Happy Fathers Day!
Peace

Hi Dan,
I remember you from emails between us years ago. You got into the “future trend” game a few years ago, and we talked about it. Watching, waiting… smiling at those who didn’t see the “big picture” of domaining. That’s changing now, and within 2 years, their will be domain sales of generic prodservs that most domainers will either be going “what the hell is that thing?” or “dang! wish I saw that one coming!”. (I love your “internetprotocoltelevision.com” domain, but this is your $150,000 domain – “IPTVDIRECT.COM” – remember, I appraise domains at their MINIMUM. Hold on to that baby!)
I have “IPTVsets.com” and a few others in the IP TV realm. Seems like you have a few category-killer domains for TV-based services on internet feeds… the future of movie viewing. I couldn’t buy any more domains in this category because YOU BOUGHT THEM, YOU ROTTEN BASTARD! heh… I say that with love and respect)
Soon we may hear some execs at NetFlix discussing your domains — congrats bro.
By David on Jun 20, 2010
I may just be that “one” you are talking about. I have been buying OOB names for 3 years now. I may have some of the best names that many people will be drooling over here in the next year or so. My portfolio stands at 290 names and waiting to sell….
XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:
Hi David,
I’ll contact you at your email address you submitted. We should talk, because I have a list of other domainers like yourself (and me) who are ready to surprise the domaining world with some killer generic keyword domains they never thought of.
Thanks for writing!
By Michael on Jun 21, 2010
Stephen,
This is exactly what I’ve been doing. I have over 600 OOTB domains of which more than half are future-trend based: robotics, nanotechnology, augmented reality, etc. I’m about to begin listing some of them on Afternic, Latonas and Sedo.
XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:
That’s excellent, Michael. I’ll contact you and we can compare notes if you like.
thanks for writing!

You don’t have to publish this comment, but I thought of you when I recently registered:
RootZoneTrustAnchor.com & .net
because I thought, “It’s a future trend domain,” along the lines of what Stephen Douglas does . . . wonder if he would approve? Then I realized, it’s four words – a long-tail! You don’t like those . . . Guess you will elaborate on your newsletter – look forward to it!
BTW, I will develop it to explain what a root zone trust anchor is – it has to do with DNSSEC the first keys of which were signed June 16th. Here is a draft how it will be implemented – it will affect TLD operators: Top-level domain (TLD) operators who use DNSSEC to sign their zone are welcome to submit trust anchors.” – Placing TLD trust anchors in the root zone – pdf file
Trust anchors will be published, so I thought this name could point to a list of trust anchors, and supply instructions to tld operators, because DNSSEC is coming fast!
XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:
Hi Louise,
Well, you got that one over me – I have no idea what it is, but if your domain is the “complete description” of the category killing definition of this feature, then four words it is! How marketable will it be? Depends on how you interpret the domain’s demographics, and what prodserv your visitors will be wanting when they land on your site. Or if you flip it, which dnssec involved company will want it. Right now, I can’t say “yay or nay”! So… do more research on it! But yes, try to stay away from any domain more than three words, unless there are some necessary prepositions, most likely “of”. Keep us posted about the success with your domain. I’m intrigued.
good luck, thx for writing

Agree. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Stephen
Just wanted to agree with you on the OOTB names. As you already know, i have dove heavily into the 3d domain market and have a few nice holographic, AR, Gesture and Touch names as well.
I’m pretty excited about my latest ebay heist – $8 for Special/Robots/com (My first and only robot name!!) – I Love It – especially for $8.
Whattaya think?
Hope all is well.

Inspired by this post and comments, I registered:
internet-television.biz.
I know, .biz and a hyphen, but it’s nice for a dot biz – thanx, people!
By Louise on Jul 7, 2010
FacePhoneChat.com <== What do you think? Only 3 syllables . . .
XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:
Hmmm… you might have something there!

I’m banking that PHEV’s will be big when they start rolling into showrooms later this year and next year.
Also waiting patiently for GNSS to replace GPS — it pretty much has already within the manufacturing world (see insideGNSS.com and GPSworld.com if you doubt me).
Only time will tell if these bets are good ones, though.
XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:
Hi Pat,
Interesting observation on this navigation evolution. How do you see the GPS acronym changing in the future to benefit domain brands? Also, if you have one of your domains in this field, send it to me and I’ll go ahead and give you an anchor link for it.
Thx for writing.
