SO WHAT’S NEXT FOR DOMAINERS? SONGS?
April 2nd, 2008 Posted in General Domain News
Here’s an odd gift I’m giving to my readers: An old song that helps domainers keep their focus…
When you think you’re not on the right track, think of everything you have around you to help you find your bullseye. I make good money at buying and selling domains and consulting for other domainers. When I’m stuck, I look for songs that stand out above the rest. I should produce a list of these songs so all my readers can buy them and get the “spark” they need to stay on track. In the meantime, you’ll just have to find these gems on my blog as I put them out there.
So read the lyrics to a killer song that will inject itself into your brainpan.

Iko Iko
by The Dixie Cups (1965)
My grandma and your grandma
Were sittin’ by the fire.
My grandma told your grandma:
I’m gonna set your flag on fire.
Talkin’ ’bout, Hey now ! Hey now ! I-KO, I-KO, un-day
Jock-a-mo fee-no ai na-né. Jock-a-mo fee na-né.
Look at my king all dressed in red.
I-KO, I-KO, un-day.
I bet-cha five dollars he’ll kill you dead.
Jock-a-mo fee na-né
Talkin’ ’bout, Hey now ! Hey now ! I-KO, I-KO, un-day
Jock-a-mo fee-no ai na-né. Jock-a-mo fee na-né.
My flag boy and your flag boy
Were sittin’ by the fire.
My flag boy told your flag boy:
I’m gonna set your flag on fire.
Talkin’ ’bout, Hey now ! Hey now ! I-KO, I-KO, un-day
Jock-a-mo fee-no ai na-né. Jock-a-mo fee na-né.
See that guy all dressed in green ?
I-KO, I-KO, un-day.
He’s not a man; he’s a lovin’ machine.
Jock-a mo fee na-né.
Talkin’ ’bout, Hey now ! Hey now ! I-KO, I-KO, un-day
Jock-a-mo fee-no ai na-né. Jock-a-mo fee na-né.
Talkin’ ’bout, Hey now ! Hey now ! I-KO, I-KO, un-day
Jock-a-mo fee-no ai na-né. Jock-a-mo fee na-né.

This song, by the Dixie Cups over 40 years ago, will make you understand domaining if you think hard enough. I suggest you buy the song on iTunes and listen to it 20 times.
Why? Because this rhythmic song was produced with sticks, bottles, a chair and an ashtray. But those instruments were only complimentary to the solid and confident vocals of the Dixie Cups. The symbolism, in case you didn’t catch it, is that with some strong beliefs in your knowledge of the domain industry and scrapping together a few bucks, you can make some good money with a minimum of “instruments”, and that oddball niches of domains you’re buying, will eventually pay off.
Get the song, hook it up and get inspired. You’re welcome.
