WHAT’S THE STORY WITH THE FUTURE TREND DOMAIN AUCTION™?

BIG NOTE FOR SUCCESSCLICK AND Future Trend Domain Auction™ FANS:

I finally received hopefully my final medical treatment for a crushed elbow, and it’s news that has removed a lot of stress on me. There’s no broken joints, but I have compressed cartilage, bruised pivot joints, and torn ligaments in my left elbow that I’ve been struggling with for almost six weeks. I was supposed to have exploratory surgery a month ago, which would have torn my arm apart and not allowed me to be able to type for another two months.

Because of this auction, and my dedication to helping everyone try to find the “sweet spot” for the value of their FT domains (or what has matured, and what hasn’t), I chose not to have the surgery, and my wife helped me do some physical therapy at home, against three doctor’s recommendations who wanted surgery. (think they want some money from my med insurance?)

My arm still isn’t 100%, but I can type, and after seeing an orthopedic surgeon specialist, he informed me that there probably isn’t permanent damage that would require surgery.  This was a huge relief, and I’ve been trying to catch up with all of you since then. Thanks to many of you for your support and writing me personally.

The Future Trend Domain Auction™ is still on, and Moniker hasn’t given me any indication that it isn’t. The auction hasn’t been officially announced because of the unbelievable amount of submissions I received (over 2,500 from about 275 people). Compounding the unexpected popularity of this auction was the fact that there are A LOT OF SMART DOMAINERS OUT THERE.

You guys have found Future Trend domains that even I haven’t heard before, and I probably am the foremost expert in this area in the world. (Just had to say that to irritate my buddies).  Seriously, we have had to research hundreds of domains we’ve never heard of before. Some we just wanted to skip over because they sounded so ridiculous, except they turned out to be FOR REAL.   I don’t think anyone in this sector of domain investing even KNOWS the amazing technology trends that are being developed right now. It’s incredible. However, searching them up and confirming their value has been overwhelming.

Since Successclick.com isn’t making a commission or any money from promoting this auction, we’ve put hundreds of hours pouring over your domains to pick out the ones we feel will not only blow people’s minds, but possibly open up new domain investment doors. We’re happy to have support for new technology domain investing from some of the top domainers in the world, including Rick Schwartz, Michael Berkens, Elliot Silver, Adam Strong, Page Howe, Andrew Allemann, Ron Jackson and many others. Sorry if I didn’t drop your names here in this list that is only half true. ;-)

We can tell you that at least 80% of the domains have been accepted, and the process of contacting those domainers for officially entering them into the auction using SnapMon’s requirements is all that’s left, except for the homework I’ll be giving you once you’ve confirmed you’ve allowed your domains into the auction.

The Future Trend Domain Auction™ is a different auction, unlike any held before. How? Because I’m pushing SnapMon to use their non-domainer marketing tactics to reach end users instead of simply sending out boilerplate email to their domainer list. Successclick is contacting marketing websites and will be sending out PRwire news releases about this auction to hopefully attract end users.

However, here’s the big “I love FT Domains” move that all of you can do to help this auction bring in outside end users:

POST COMMENTS ON EVERY MARKETING AND ADVERTISING WEBSITE talking about the power of owning your FT brand domains and leading them to the Future Trend Domain Auction™. Obviously, you can’t do this until we finalize the list of accepted domains, and the date for the auction. Be aware that this information will be forthcoming in the next week or so

So, wrapping it up:

1) My arm is healing up well and I’ve learned to not sneak through my back acre to take photos with my wife’s expensive camera of baby wood ducks (probably the most beautiful duck in the world) without watching where I’m walking.

2) We’ve reviewed the majority of FT domain submissions, and almost everyone who submitted  has at least one or more domains accepted.

3) No worries (as I’ve heard from several veteran domainers) that SnapMon will be “slash/dashing” your domains, pushing your reserves down to way below their acceptable value. HOWEVER, we’ve received about 200 domains from domainers that are asking for reserves in the low six-seven figures. That’s right.  This is NOT the right time to present those domains before we’ve identified this category’s domain values. If you have domains that you feel are in the six-seven figure range, I’d hold on to them and not present them at this auction. The lower the reserve, the more we’re interested in your domain.

4) The Future Trend Domain Auction™ is the first auction of its type. This event is a long-planned experiment in marketing a new domain category and finding whether the category’s different sub-categories have matured. DO NOT EXPECT HUGE PAYOUTS. Don’t expect anything except watching how many end users will show up. When the time is right, you all can help with this, so this event it truly a “group project” among friends and associates.

5) I personally apologize for misjudging the amount of time that producing the Future Trend Domain Auction™ would take, especially researching your brilliant domain names, and trust me, there are truly exceptional FT domains in this auction.

I hope this article helps all of you, and I will be posting the anticipated information you’ve been waiting for in the next weeks.

I apologize for the delay in the auction, I really can’t use my elbow injury as an excuse to deny you all your enthusiasm for the event. I hope the wait will bring something fantastic to this event.

Stay tuned, and again, thank you for your support during the last five weeks.

  1. Thanks so much for the update Stephen. Had no idea you were dealing with the medical issue. Guess ‘oh duck’ will be the new favorite phrase for frustration, eh? Look forward to seeing the names that have been chosen. Lucy

  2. Thanks for the update Stephen, and hope you get better soon.

Had no idea about your elbow. Sorry to hear about it, but glad it’s gonna be ok. I hope you have a really cool story about crocodile wrestling or something about how you did it.

  8. ….Can i just say I did have the hologramtv.com name shaped as an arm but when I submitted the message all the letters have gone to the left. Bummer!!!!

    Two points:

    1) @Stephen said: “. . . unbelievable amount of submissions I received (over 2,500 from about 275 people).”

If almost everyone who submit has at least one domain in the auction, it looks like it’s no longer the small list originally intended of 75-100. Where do you draw the line? I agree, a small list would be better and a large list tends to overwhelming. But I knew, it is too many categories, even within future trend, for a list of 75-100.

    2) @Stephen said: “You guys have found Future Trend domains that even I haven’t heard before.”

You can say that again! Future trend themes have been popping up, and I can’t believe I got the dot com of these beauties,

Thank you, @ Stephen, for inspiring us to the fun task of watching the news and seizing possibilities!

      Hi Louise,

I stated that 80% of the domains submitted were accepted. That was incorrect. It’s more like 80% of the domainers have had at least one domain accepted or being considered at this time. This mean there will most likely be about 150 – 200 domains in the auction, which is a manageable number.

  10. Thank you Stephen for the update and sorry to hear about your injury.
Get well soon and waiting for that email, hopefully I’m in.

  11. Thanks for the update and the honesty.

When is the Future Trends auction?

Perhaps, you could kindly place a big, bold blue stamp on your home page stating which date the auction will happen?

    Thank you.

    • admin

      @ William,

The Future Trend Domain Auction™ will be held when the final domain submission are cleared. There are many great FT domains submitted by amateur domainers who don’t realize that this auction is an “exploratory” event, trying to find out if Future Trend domains are going to be valuable, so they are placing huge reserves on their domains. That’s okay if it’s been established that FT domains are selling like hotcakes, but that hasn’t been established yet. I believe soon they will be.

There is no rush for this auction. We’re not in a hurry. The longer we take, the more valuable your FT domains become as they mature. You will be notified if you have your domains in the auction, and any of them have been accepted. I promise! Thanks for writing, and be patient. In the meantime, visit all the relevant websites matching your FT domains, and if they have blog articles or give comment sections, talk about the auction coming up, and talk about your domains (don’t overdo it tho because it will look like spam). Everyone who has a horse in the FT auction should be pitching in and acting outside this auction by reaching out to the groups and newsites that deal with future technology. They should be spreading the word about the auction and the fact that owning generic descriptive domains, either as brands or backbrands, is a smart marketing move to make.

      Thanks for writing.

    Dear Stephen,
I think you’re doing wonderful job. When you really start to think about the huge undertaking and the lack of compensation you receive in doing so. My hat goes off to you… An award should be named after you. Win lose or draw the enthusiasm and the heart and passion you’ve shown is second to none. Many of us have submitted domains in the hopes of gaining exposure. For my money this could have never happened without you at the helm. You can’t purchase CLASS you either possess it or you don’t. We all benefit by your actions and this auction. Even if it’s not in this upcoming auction, the Future will still be brighter as I’m sure many people like me have held back names to see what happens. Stephen it wouldn’t hurt to set up a donation fund for your efforts, hell most of us if not all of us has spent money on domain speculation, more then we care to admit. A small donation to the cause, lets say in the about of a domain isn’t going to hurt anyone or break the bank. Voluntary of course but if you set it up I’ll be the first to donate, to me it’s only fair. Don’t get me wrong we all wish to make money off Future Trends, but doing the right thing goes hand and hand with making money.
Thank you for all that you do.

      Hi Joe, “Straighttalk”

Thank you for your kind sentiments. Just your words made my day. What else could anyone really ask for?

I would put up a “donation” page if I needed it, but I don’t. That doesn’t mean donation sites are bad. They are really great for helping people who give their programs and services away for free and have no other source of adequate funds for their effort. But several things keep me from asking for financiial assistance. One, I don’t need the money. Two, my involvement in the Future Trend Domain Auction™ will reward me in giving me strategic information as a domain investor, and three, I have several domains in the auction I hope to sell! I’m not the saint you may see me as! I’m just not taking any money from sales of domains from the participants, many who are friends and clients of mine, along with a huge bunch of new domain investors (we should all welcome them and treat them like equals) , and a small educated group of power domain investors whose names I keep private. This project is an exciting one for me, in all of its aspects… thanks for your interest, and again, your kind words.

  17. Louise

You did pretty well with CloudCo.com at $7,000.00, too, @ Giles – congratulations!!! :)

  18. Giles

Thanks Louise, need another one like that

Working on another one right now, hope it goes through. Its a 3D “GEO” name though

  19. Louise

I’m going to compose the 150-word blurb for the accepted domain and post it on the website with a copyright mark. I expect the blurb in Oversee/Moniker’s promotional pdf file to appear with copyright, and a use limit in the terms to the exclusivity period. Then it disappears from public view from O/M’s end.

That sounds reasonable! Would you supply a sample promotional text for one of your domains, @Stephen?

  20. Louise
Does this mean that people have started to receive notice of accepted domains for the FT auction?

  21. Louise

Informal. There are a couple category killers which are slam dunk, I would imagine. Stu, Giles, and Stephen are in the running for those . . . I would be surprised to not see names from those domainers in the auction. And I have one good one I submit at sacrifice.

Yes, sacrifice. Sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrifice. The call was to submit at no resesrve or at sacrifice, to help make the FTDA a success, and that is what I did. Hope other domainers step up to the plate at the same level. *hint*hint*

You’re right, I shouldn’t imply anything. If I keep mouthing off, people won’t want to do business with Louise.

But it is reasonable to confirm, as @Stephen suggested there will be a requirement for a 10-word description of the technology the domain describes, that the intellectual property which is an original piece of text describing the domain STAYS with the owner, or else it is duplicate content if he posts it later on his site.

    Solar Handbag finally released !
    http://www.diffus.dk/wordpress/?p=736

All of sudden, solar is in the news in a major way! I’m liking it. Just registered, GreenSmartphones.com because of what I read about Solar on Stu’s blog, Solarphone.com. Green phones are made with recycled materials.

Stu has Solarphone.com and he is going to do amazing with it!

But solar bags are huge! You can charge your solar devices on your brief case while walking to work. (For those of us who are not out of a job.) It’s a trend in mobile technology.

Even there are t-shirts which charge devices using SOUND waves, not light!

Orange Sound Charged Shirt Powers Mobiles
    http://www.earthtechling.com/2011/06/orange-sound-charged-shirt-powers-mobiles/

So I’m interested to see which solar domains of @ Stephen’s wind up in the auction!

    • admin

      @ Louise

Thanks Louise for the comments. I am not certain yet which solar domains I’m going to submit. For you solar domain buyers, I’m getting sales offers every day for at least a few of the 350 solar domains I own.

You might be surprised that I own:

      SolarHandset.com
      SolarRechargers.com
      SolarClothes.com
      SolarMobilePhone.com
and many more. However, the great tech area still unexplored in domain purchasing is NANO technology, which is going to be huge (more than it is already!)

      Thanks again!

from the unwashed – forgive the cynicism

There should be an award given the originators of this thread and auction for the skillful mind-mining of the posters and domain submitters. Brilliant!

The “experts” in the future trend domain “INDUSTRY” are “even surprised” at the scope of breadth of domains submitted.

No commission? I would suggest that fleshing out the “perfect domain” ranks of the mined future of domains persuant to a future heated domain market is … well… CON-ISSION.,,,
well, ENOUGH…,,, you get my meaning.

    Deadlines?…. welll…. seeeddoooo, oh,
    NO RUSH? hmmm…???

    ahhh??? mmmmm!!!!

Cloudacy.com is a domain that I own. So far I have not done anything with it. I’m considering creating a site with its own brand name, that covers everything and anything to do with THE CLOUD). My thoughts are to make it a monster site for advertisers and information. (Like a one stop shop for all your Cloud needs). I think the name has marketability? Any comments good or bad are welcomed.
    Thanks

  29. Interesting that you bring up NANO technology. That’s how I got started in all of this. I was approached by a NZ Nano tech company to buy my name (Izon.com) I like the country, I like future technology, and as a writer I like selling words, so I went ahead and sold it for $XX,XXX and shares in the company. It was a good experience and introduction to the potential value of the right domains.

    • admin

      @ Lucy,

If you sold a future tech domain name in the five figures, on your own, can you provide us with more details so we can promote that sale for you? With a five figure sale on a domain like this, it bolsters all of the FT domainers’ domain investment strategy, and proves that the road is wide open. Additionally, Successclick would like an exclusive on the story of how the sale went down. go ahead and email me directly (Stephen) use the successclick email address. Thanks and congrats!

  30. Louise

@ Lucy, Glad you held out for five figures for izon! LLLL, pronounceable domain is in demand! Congratulations.

Nice solar names, @admin! Please, would you accept one of DMPartners’ domains and tell him so? Thanx!
