WHYPARK HITS ME A HOME RUN IN THE FIRST INNING

February 10th, 2010 Posted in Domain Development, General Domain News

It’s no secret that I’m a big WhyPark.com fan. From having the best head honcho (of any domain industry company) in Craig Rowe, to their CS wizard, Kelly Urqhart, and their PPC pals at Parked.com (I think I’ve heard of names there like “donny, “monte”, “sigmund” and others, ;-)   ) the fact that setting up websites quickly and effectively at WhyPark is a main focus of mine, and has now proved its benefits faster than I expected.

I own ElectricFashion.com™, and since it wasn’t doing anything at Parked.com, with few visitors, maybe a few pennies a month, I decided that it was time to do a “preemptive” move that I’m surprised I haven’t thought of before and offered to my clients and readers. Well, here it is.

NOTE: I think this is an important strategy to embrace if you have over 100 domains, and many of those domains are branding or generic descriptive domains under 16 characters (no hyphens, numbers, contractions, prepositions, etc.)

Do you want to have a “offensive” defense against “reverse-hijacking” attempts and at the same time have a good chance of getting your domain indexed? (parking your domain at a PPC  landing page will NOT advance your domain in the SE’s).

Try this — it gives you a fighting chance:

For this strategic option, you have to consider whether you want to move a domain that is making good money at your PS in order to PROTECT it from possible “reverse hijacking” attempts. If you feel confident where your domain is parked, and you have great domain attorneys, then this doesn’t affect those domains. But what about those domains that aren’t performing as “hello! You have a big vacation coming” revenue generators?

What if you have a generic domain that you know is powerful, and is just waiting for that end-user sale? Ooops! You’re getting attacked by some company who feels your domain is infringing on their copyright, even though you know it’s generic, and should be safe. This happens to domainers every month.

What can domainers do to help PREVENT the kneejerk move by some companies trying to reverse-hijack your domains?

ANSWER: Move your domain from a landing page (like Domainsponsor, TrafficZ, Parked, Sedo, etc) to a content-building site, such as WhyPark.com or other content building sites.

HERE’S THE BIG SCARECROW FOR YOU TO FRIGHTEN THE CROWS: DON’T BE AFRAID TO TELL THE WORLD THAT YOU’RE TMing YOUR DOMAIN!

Set up your new content sites to present the phrases of their domains with a “TM” behind the phrase. Yes, you can start establishing your own TM ownership on your domains by simply presenting the domain consistently with the “TM” mark behind the domain phrase, or the domain itself. Trademarks take five years to be reviewed and established, and the first thing the govt looks at is if you’ve been using your domain phrase clearly marked as a “TM”.  The longer you’ve been promoting your domain as a TM, the stronger your case is for you owning that domain phrase.

I’ve digressed. My original story is this:  I set up my TM domain ElectricFashion.com™ about a week ago, and the Google-searched phrase “electric fashion” popped up my domain, showing it was indexed within a week of moving it to WhyPark. That’s right, I just noticed that my domain site at WhyPark has been indexed by Google today.  If you look up that phrase, I’m in the top 10 results. For those “Google kills those content developer sites” proponents, here’s the news: This domain is parked at WhyPark and is in Google results.

So I’m excited about this — I am moving as many domains not receiving typein traffic over to WhyPark as fast as I can, and adding a Custom Page or two to make things speed up, so to say.

Final Note: I have about 202 domains which made nothing at PS’s now making me about $70-$100 a month in revenue at WhyPark. I have about 3200 domains split at three other PS’s, and only one of the PS’s can triple that amount… and that’s with 7 times as many domains. Granted, I’m a “future trend” domain buyer/flipper, but I’m impressed that I can take domains that made nothing and quickly start generating some monthly income on them through OST. (Organic Search Traffic — or SET “Search Engine Traffic”).  Seeing one of my “future trend” domains get indexed on Google in a week is a big jump ahead for my monetization AND resale potential for that domain.

So much for the neggy nellies attacking Whypark’s rapid popularity and proof of monetization revenues going up. I welcome any questions or comments regarding Whypark users’ and their experiences, pro or con, and if you have an issue, I’ll be glad to help resolve them for you.

Happy Domaining!

great idea! is there an option to ad the “TM” in the WhyPark system? am I missing something?

    XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:

    Hi Yaron,

Anyone can add a “tm” by simply hitting a series of keys. I’m a Mac user, and for us, we hit “option 2″ and it forms a small “tm”, like so ™. I’m not sure how a PC keyboard does it, but I’m sure it does. Try it out and let us know what key combos makes a ™ on a PC. Thanks!

As understand things, WhyPark is great until Google’s duplicate penalty kicks in. Then the site drops out of Google’s rankings. Am I wrong?

Are you using your own content on the websites?

  5. By admin on Feb 10, 2010

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for writing. On many of my sites at WhyPark, as I set them up, I usually add at least one Custom Page, which is really easy to do. I write or rewrite an article (really easy to do) with about 150 – 200 words, mentioning a few keyword phrases at least once in the text. It also has to do with how you “build” your keywords during the setup, so you get a “mix” of articles and if you want, a custom image/pic. Google sees tens of thousands of identical articles all over the internet, as PRwires, AP and Reuters reports and other syndicated content is written for the biggest of news sites. As you know, those sites don’t get “penalized” or “blackballed” just because of “identical content”. That usually happens on EXACT copies of sites being generated at one server IP. All you need to do is add one or two original pages of content and/or images to your site map to avoid having your site being seen by the SE’s as a duplicate site. It’s not about “duplicate content”, it’s about “duplicate sitemaps” with duplicate content and even layout. I’m not an SEO expert, but this is what I’ve discovered in building hundreds of Whypark sites that are now generating income for me.

    Hi Ray,

See my response to Brian regarding making sure you add at least one page of original content and/or images to your sitemap or homepage. I only added 150 original words of content, using one or two mentions of the keyword phrases. There is another thing to consider also — your keyword settings as you set up the site. Don’t use “common keywords”, use your keywords in an unusual arrangement, for example: If you want to mention “traveling to Spain” for your Spanish vacation domain, don’t just write “Airfare to Spain”, “Spain Vacation”, “Spain Hotels” etc. Use something more esoteric like “Fun travel through spain” “offbeat spots in Spain” “best kept secret vacation spots in Spain”, and so on. Be just as original in your keyword phrasings, and you’ll catch the odd SE phrasings that do turn up.

“(I think I’ve heard of names there like “donny, “monte”, “sigmund” and others, )”

Yea, I’ve heard of them too. DirectNIC.com and the rest of their shady businesses (Kenyatech and all). They’re the lowest of the low, that group.

I wouldnt give them a penny of my money even if a gun was pointed at my head.

    XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:

    Hi Mike,

Well, I forgot Monte White left. So, if I ask you to divulge all you know about the rest, will you be brave enough to do that here? “Kenyatech”? We’re all ears!

Thanks Louise! I hope this helps all those poor PC users out there! (rotten snob Mac user comment!) ;-)

No matter how you spin it, WhyPark is a …….(THE REST OF THE RESPONSE WAS DELETED FOR LACK OF LEGITIMATE REPRESENTATION OF THE AUTHOR)

    XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:

Awwwww…. darn it, “MS”. Somehow my blogsite wouldn’t allow your comments to appear. This is based on a new policy of “real people with real names are the only ones who count”. I don’t need the content you provide – I want discussions with people who aren’t shy little girls about what they say publicly. When you want to take your first steps outside without hiding under your “blanky”, come on back and talk all you want, say what you want. Our only rule is: WHO ARE YOU? IF YOU ARE AFRAID TO SAY, THEN SO ARE WE IN POSTING YOUR COMMENT.

    UPDATE:

Today I found that Google indexed the “THIS DOMAIN FOR SALE” link on the website I just put up “ElectricFashion.com”. I was doing a generic alert Google service on the term “Electric Fashion” and actually got a google notice that the domain name was for SALE! Now that is a first in ten years of selling domains!!

  11. By MS on Feb 26, 2010

lol What’s the matter, afraid my comments would have a negative effect on your ….

    XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:

Awwww… darn it again, MS! You could have learned from your last post here. When you make a comment that attacks someone or a company or system, I would like to know who you are so I can determine if my readers are being well-educated by someone who has balls. If you feel so strongly to make a statement but are too scared to identify yourself, why would I want to feed my readers comments from some anonymous chickensh*t?

So… here’s your second try, and still nobody knows what you’re trying to say because it wouldn’t matter anyways. If they don’t know who you are to determine where you’re coming from, they can’t ascertain your expertise. At this point, if I was you, I’d feel foolish looking in the mirror. Grow some, and come on back.

That’s right, I just noticed that my domain site at WhyPark has been indexed by Google today

    XXXXXX Stephen Douglas Responds:

    Hi Chirag,

Now that is the kind of news a lot of domainers look for – even when others say it “won’t happen”. Thanks for the report!
